The Buddy Holly Story

Retelling Buddy Holly’s life story drew upon incorporating actual events and locations as well as integrating the actors into the projected story.  Directed by David Bennett, he wanted projections to segue between scenes, bringing the audience along on Buddy’s journey through video.  Secondarily, because of the prominence of the three large rear-screen projection sheets in James Wolk’s set design, still images were used to finish each stage look.

This co-design with Lara Kaminsky involved storyboarding, scouting, and shooting on location in the Seattle area to substitute for Buddy’s home town of Lubbock, TX.  In addition, we used original photography and video I shot in Lubbock and Clovis, NM.  Stock photography augmented the content, as did original artwork.
